Barcelona defender Mascherano: Possession debate just absurd

Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano has hit out at the critics of Tata Martino's playing style.
Pundits point to the smaller possession percentage in games as a criticism.

But Mascherano insists: “Against Rayo we won 0-4, but Rayo had more possession than us. I believe it was 51% to 49%, it’s an absurd debate.

“We are playing the same way. Now, if you have a chance to reach their goal with three passes, you’re not going to take 20 touches and allow your rival to settle in, are you?”
