Egyptian winger named most promising talent in 2012 wants Manchester United move
The 21-year-old has been in the spotlight this week because his late goal against Chelsea sunk them to a 1-0 defeat in Switzerland and he also scored in reverse fixture where Basel beat Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
His exploits with Basel have earned him plaudits and when he spoke to The Sun about his future, he admitted he had a desire to join one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
“I’m very proud to have scored two goals against Chelsea,” he said.
“I want to play for one of the best teams in the world.
“My favourites are Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea.”
Named the CAF most promising talent in 2012, Salah has made ten appearances for Basel in the league this season and has scored twice but it is performances for Egypt where he has been most impressive. He has scored 17 goals in 26 appearances for Egypt since 2011 including three goals in the London 2012 Olympics.
An effectively unknown quantity, Salah may have showed his worth against Chelsea over two legs but it would still be a bit of a punt from David Moyes if he was to make a move for him and given how many wingers we already have on the books, an unnecessary one as well.
