David de Gea: De Gea is set to start this clash and indeed most of United’s games up until the League Cup game with Stoke on the 18th.
Chris Smalling: For such a huge fixture, Smalling’s run at right-back may mean he is favoured to Rafael who has not played for several games now.
Jonny Evans: This would be a third consecutive start for United’s number one centre-back.
Nemanja Vidic: Assuming the captain has fully recovered from injury, he can be expected to replace 35-year-old Rio Ferdinand.

kagawa-rooney-leverkusen-twitter-munitedgirlPatrice Evra: Evra can expect to relieve captain duties on Sunday but he will certainly hold onto his left-back berth.
Antonio Valencia: Valencia’s improved form should earn him a start against Tottenham.
Phil Jones: Jones has impressed in midfield so far this season and he could be vital at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Tom Cleverley: In the continued absence of Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley is perhaps most likely to partner Phil Jones on Sunday with Ryan Giggs’ age perhaps determining his inability to start.
Shinji Kagawa: Impressive on Wednesday night in a more central position, Kagawa will look to be just as effective from the left on Sunday should he start ahead of the likes of Adnan Januzaj, Nani and Danny Welbeck.

Wayne Rooney: Rooney is United’s top man at the moment and a good performance from him on Sunday could win United the game.

Robin van Persie: Van Persie is expected to return to the starting line-up for this huge clash.
Formation: 4-4-1-1
United appear to have a plethora of attacking options available with Nani, Januzaj, Welbeck and Chicharito all likely to be given a place on the bench. Giggs’ performance in midweek, combined with a substitute appearance last Sunday, may mean he is only deemed ready enough to start from the bench in this fixture.

Despite have some doubts about his attacking play but Chris Smalling has dominated aerial duels and looked solid defensively in recent weeks, meaning he is likely to keep Rafael out of a return to the starting eleven for the time being.
