Dutch giants move for wantaway Man City starlet
Feyenoord are hoping to re-sign Manchester City forward John Guidetti, after reports in the Swedish media claimed the striker would be allowed to leave the Etihad, according to talkSPORT.
Guidetti enjoyed an excellent loan spell with the Dutch club in 2011/2012, but remains well down the pecking order at City, with the likes of Sergio Aguero, Alvaro Negredo, Edin Dzeko, and Stevan Jovetic all ahead of him.
In fact the 21-year-old – who scored a hugely impressive 20 goals in 23 league appearances during his first stint at Feyenoord – has not appeared for City since the 2010/2011 season.
Feyenoord technical director Martin van Geel is hoping to put an end to the Swedish forward’s misery, but admits a move may not be possible in the winter transfer window.
“I read in the newspapers that he may leave soon for £4.2m, but I wonder if that is correct. We still have close contact with John, but that amount is not known to me in any case,” he told Dutch newspaper AD.
“[He is] always an option Feyenoord. Guidetti has a special place with us and the feeling mutual. In the short term, however, I think that his arrival is absolutely impossible. But who knows what that will be like in a few months.”
Manuel Pellegrini has continually rotated
his strikers since taking charge at Eastlands, with Sergio Aguero and
Alvaro Negredo the current first choice partnership.
Edin Dzeko has been linked with a January move to Inter Milan, while summer signing Stevan Jovetic has barely featured in the Premier League.
