Sunderland boss reveals walk out threat

Gus-Poyet-Sunderland-manager
Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has revealed he has already had rows with the club’s hierarchy over which players to sign in the January transfer window, according to the Metro.

The Black Cats boss has enjoyed a decent start to his career at the Stadium of Light, winning three out of his opening three home games, which have included Premier League victories over local rivals Newcastle, and supposed title challengers Manchester City.

Poyet spent the international break locked in negotiations with director of football Roberto Di Fanti, with the pair trying to identify suitable transfer targets for January.

But the former Brighton boss reveals the pair did not always agree, so much so that Poyet threatened to walk out if Di Fanti signed one of the players he hadn’t agreed on.

“I’ve told him my opinions about everybody and I’ve told him what I think we should be looking for,” Poyet said.
“We talked about a position the other day and considered four players.
“I picked two. It was simple.

“One of the other two was a definite no. If that one is coming, I won’t be here.”
Poyet went on to explain how he had the final say on all transfers, and that he would not take kindly to players being purchased for him during his time in charge.

“I’m sure the transfers are going to be done in the right way; in the common sense way,” he added.
“Everyone has a responsibility and then the player has to be the right one for me.
“If not, I’m not going to accept it.”
