Former Arsenal target says star wants to return to the Champions League

Newcastle’s Cabaye has sent out a come and get me plea to Europe’s elite.

Yohan Cabaye has been linked with several clubs in the last few months with Arsenal, AS Roma and Paris Saint-Germain all interested in the Newcastle United midfielder.

The Gunners even made a bid for the France international in the summer, only for the Magpies to reject the offer for the 27-year-old that AS Monaco and Liverpool are also keen on.

Now Cabaye has sent out the clearest message yet that the Frenchman wants to leave St James’ Park by claiming the midfield ace wants to be playing Champions League football again.
“I miss the Champions League. I’ll finish this season with Newcastle and concentrate on the coming months and then we’ll see,” the Newcastle ace was quoted by the Mirror.


Cabaye started a rift between the player and the club back when the north London side were interested, by striking to try and force a move.

Since then both parties have patched up their differences and the midfielder has been in great form for the north east club.
Cabaye is used to playing European football having spent eight years in the Lille first team before the switch to the Premier League in 2011.

The player is contracted at Newcastle until 2016, but with the World Cup on the horizon and hopes of being in the 23-man France squad, clearly doubts are creeping in.
As much as Alan Pardew would wish it were so, it’s unrealistic to think the Englishman’s side are going to break the top four in the foreseeable future and Arsene Wenger could well be watching these developments with interest.
