Team America! Everton consider bringing Donovan back for THIRD loan spell
Everton are pondering a move to bring Landon Donovan back for a third spell on loan.
The United States international became a crowd favourite at Goodison Park when he arrived in January 2010 and cemented the bond he forged with another successful period in 2012.
With the MLS season having finished and LA Galaxy forward Donovan looking to maintain his fitness in a World Cup year, a short-term deal with Everton could be ideal for both club and player.
Roberto Martinez has been assessing what areas he needs to strengthen but he is reluctant to spend heavily in the January window, as he believes it does not offer value for money.
Donovan, 31, still refers to himself as an Everton player on his Twitter profile and would certainly be open to a move, if Martinez follows up his interest.
Aiden McGeady, however, could be another option for Everton. Martinez is a big admirer of the 27-year-old Republic of Ireland winger, who looks destined to move in January after being placed on the transfer list by Spartak Moscow yesterday.
