Eduardo: Arsenal will be champions! Former Gunner ready to down United

Former Arsenal man Eduardo da Silva believes this is the year the Gunners end their trophy drought, and wants to get one over on Manchester United tonight.

Ex-Arsenal striker Eduardo has a real chance to pile the pain on Manchester United.

With the Red Devils reeling from two successive home defeats, the Croatian travels with Shakhtar Donetsk looking to make it three in a row.

Talking to the BBC ahead of the cup tie - the striker is confident of pulling off a result, but he really gets talking when quizzed about former club Arsenal.
Can they end their silverware drought this year? He is adamant they can.

"I'm pleased Arsenal are top. Two years ago they had a similar situation to United now - they started very badly but then went up, and they always finish in the top four.

"I'm sure that if Arsenal show the same mentality as last season from Christmas time to the end of the season, they will be champions of the Premier League.
"They never changed their style of football and they have the same people inside the club. They have just been waiting for a little bit of luck to become champions.

"This year everything is open for them to finish first. In England and the Premier League, if you lose one game everything can change. But I'm sure they can do it."
Eduardo is right it can all change quickly, and a loss against Manchester City at the weekend could tip the scales against the Gunners with Chelsea up next.

However Arsenal have enough talent in their locker and confidence built up throughout the season already which should give them reason to feel they can bounce back from a loss - as they showed after their loss at United.
Eduardo will go down as one of Arsenal's most unfortunate players ever to wear the shirt, clearly a prolific striker, his own self-belief was knocked after a horrific leg break sustained against Birmingham and only in leaving the club did he begin to rebuild.

He has six goals in 14 games this season for Shakhtar - and the way United's season is going you wouldn't rule him out popping up and bagging a winner at Old Trafford.
For Arsenal, his comments will be nice to hear - and unlike Robin van Persie he will be welcome back at The Emirates anytime, especially if he scores past United tonight.
