Fulham hopeful over Dempsey move
ESPN FC: Back to England?
Fulham are hopeful of luring their former midfielder Clint Dempsey back
to the Premier League on a loan deal from Major League Soccer side
Seattle Sounders, but they face competition to land the 30-year-old
midfielder, a source has told ESPN.
Dempsey returned to his homeland last January in a six million pound
move from Tottenham, with the prospect of him making a swift return to
England alerting several Premier League clubs to his availability.
West Ham and Stoke are reported to be interested in bringing Dempsey in on a short-term deal, yet the prospect of returning to Fulham may appeal after his successful stint at the west London club between 2007 and 2012.
A move for United States international Dempsey would help to ensure he maintains his fitness levels ahead of next summer’s World Cup finals, with his arrival at Fulham providing the club's new boss Rene Meulensteen with a welcome boost as he looks to inject life into the bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Dempsey was a key man for Fulham during his spell at the club, scoring 50 league goals and playing a key part in their remarkable run to the 2010 Europa League Final.
