Nigeria qualify for C’ Rica 2014

National U-17 women’s team, Flamingos, became the first African side to   qualify for the   FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup  in Costa Rica next year.

The  followed  the withdrawal of South Sudan from the qualifiers. Nigeria were drawn against South Sudan in the continental  qualifiers but the East-Central African country opted out of the race for undisclosed reasons.

The Sudanese  had been scheduled to host the first leg of the qualifying fixture on the weekend of  November 1 and 3.

“It’s good that our team has qualified early.

The Nigeria Football Federation will ensure the team starts preparation early enough and very ready to do Nigeria proud,”  the  NFF General Secretary,  Musa Amadu said in a statement on Wednesday.
