Man Utd and Chelsea players targeted by Bundesliga outfit
Bundesliga
side VfL Wolfsburg are in no mood to cease their transfer market
spending this season. The club bought Luiz Gustavo from Bayern Munich
this summer and it is believed that they may be open to the possibility
of landing a couple of more high profile names at the Volkswagen Arena
with reports indicating that the duo of Manchester United’s Shinji
Kagawa and Chelsea’s Kevin de Bruyne may be on their transfer agenda.
Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs was quoted
revealing to Bild: “We want to do reasonable transfers, just like with Luiz Gustavo. That was exceptional in terms of transfer fee and dimension. We want to continue a selective reinforcement of our squad. Not in a heave-ho style.”
Allofs also praised the aforementioned duo, whilst hinting that the club may be contemplating making a move for the Premier League pair. Allofs said: “At Werder, I have seen just how good de Bruyne is, and at Dortmund we have seen how well Kagawa can do. If such players are possible, you of course think about them.”
Kagawa has had a nightmarish run under Red Devils manager David Moyes with the Japanese international managing to notch up just two appearances for the club this season. On the other hand, De Bruyne has also had a season to forget so far, with him falling out of favour at Chelsea and manager Jose Mourinho relegating him down the pecking order.
Either of the two players will be a reasonable investment for Wolfsburg, with both of them having already proven their mettle in the Bundesliga previously. However, prying them away from their clubs will not be an easy task by any means and Die Wölfe may need to break the bank to acquire their services in the near future.
