160 golfers for Southern Sun tourney
No
fewer than 160 golfers will compete at the third edition of the
Southern Sun golf day tournament on November 9 at the Ikoyi Club in
Lagos.
The organisers of the one-day tournament said over 200 handicap golfers played in the qualifiers which ended earlier this month.
“The competition format is team play in
which four players make up the team. Their aggregate score will
determine their success in the tournament,” Ikoyi Club golf captain,
Tayo Babalakin, said on Monday.
“The facilities at the club have been
upgraded ahead of the tournament and I assure everyone that only the
best handicap players will feature in the competition.”
General Manager of Southern Sun, Ikoyi
Hotel, Mark Loxley, said prizes would be won at the competition. He
added that the leader of the hole-in-one contest during the tournament
would win a car.
“The car was donated by one of the sponsors, Mandillas. But we’ll announce which hole it will be on November 2,” Loxley said.
“The best we can hope for on the
tournament day is a good weather because the competition will be fun. It
will also serve as a platform for business networking among sponsors
and participants.”
