Duo battle for Rode

Arsenal and Liverpool will battle it out for the services of Eintracht Frankfurt star Sebastian Rode when the transfer window opens.

It was thought that Bayern Munich were leading the race to sign the talented 23-year-old but the European Champions have pulled out of the running, leaving the way clear for the Premier League duo to fight it out.

Rode has been a revelation for Eintracht since joining them from Kickers Offenbach in June 2010 but it looks as though he will definitely leave the Bundesliga outfit at the end of the season when his contract expires.


The German under-21 international has stated he would like to take the 'next step' in his career and a move to the Premier League is said to appeal to him.

Eintracht would prefer to cash in when the January window opens but whether any club would be interested in paying £18million when he is soon out of contract, remains to be seen.
