The midfield maestro was delighted with his goal but even happier with the result as the Bianconeri moved to within one point of table-toppers Roma
Andrea Pirlo believes his side's 3-0 victory over Napoli is a statement of intent as Juventus cuts the gap at the top of Serie A to one point.

The 34-year-old produced another stunning free kick to add to his collection as Juventus Stadium reveled in one of the Bianconeri's best performances of the season so far.

Pirlo believes the display will have title rival Roma looking over its shoulders.

"I was fortunate with my goal, but I'm happier with the victory," the midfielder told Sky Sport Italia after the game.

"We tried to send a signal to those in front of us, to let them know we're going to have a great season."

Fernando Llorente opened the scoring and after Pirlo's effort, Paul Pogba put the seal on a comprehensive victory with a thunderous volley.

The veteran Italian says despite a few early hiccups his side is on the right track to challenge for the Scudetto once again.

"The two defeats to Fiorentina and Real Madrid helped us to grow. Now we have rediscovered ourselves and must continue along this path," Pirlo said.

"The Giallorossi [Roma] and Napoli will be in the title fight to the end. We just have to focus on ourselves."
