Picture this: Tuesday night's best Champions League photos as Man City progress and Gareth Bale scores for Madrid

See the best photos from across Europe as Man United struggle in Spain while Alvaro Negredo's hat-trick secures City's place in the knock-out stages

It was another busy night of Champions League action on Tuesday that saw mixed fortunes for the Manchester sides and Gareth Bale net his first Champions League goal for Real Madrid.

Manuel Pellegrini's City side romped to a 5-2 win over Russian champions CSKA Moscow, progressing to the knock-out stages for the first time in their history.

But their cross-City rivals didn't fare so well, drawing 0-0 with Real Sociedad, with Robin van Persie missing a penalty, Marouane Fellaini receiving a late red card and Ashley Young becoming involved in yet another diving row.
David Moyes can at least console himself with the fact that United remain top of their group, ahead of Bayer Leverkusen in second place.
Juventus and Real Madrid played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in Italy, with Gareth Bale's low shot putting the Spanish giants ahead before Fernando Llorente equalised for the home side.
Elsewhere in Europe, a Zlatan Ibrahimovic goal salvaged a point for Paris Saint-Germain against Anderlecht and holders Bayern Munich were 1-0 winners away at Viktoria Plzen.
