Michael Carrick makes a brilliantly swift return to training after surgery
The 32-year-old returned to training ahead of schedule following a short break out in Dubai according to the Daily Mail.
While he is still expected to be out for five weeks because of the problem, it is fantastic to hear that he is already back in light training given that surgery on an Achilles issue can be quite major.
United’s midfield is going to struggle in Carrick’s absence but now that he has returned to training early, there is a distinct possibility that he may return to first team action earlier too and if he can be back within four weeks, we’ll have him in time for the last two games of the calendar year.
Without him, our midfield is very weak and it is only when he doesn’t play that you realise how important he is to the team.
Obviously, United shouldn’t rush Carrick back from injury because that can do more damage than good – you only have to look at Nemanja Vidic’s faltered return last year for proof of that – but the sooner Carrick does make a full return the better.
