Lampard: Chelsea are a work in progress under Mourinho and it will be tough to win the title
Frank Lampard says Chelsea are a work in progress under Jose Mourinho in his second spell in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea won two Premier League titles under Mourinho during his first spell in west London, but Lampard believes the competition is greater now and it will be harder to win the title.
The Blues have lost twice this season, away to Everton and Newcastle, and Lampard says people need to realise that the team is evolving in Mourinho’s second spell.

Perfect storm: Everything was right for Chelsea to win the title in Mourinho's first spell
Lampard told The Sun: ‘Of course people need to realise it’s a different scenario. If you can’t see that then you can’t really see straight.
‘It is completely different from when Jose was here before. We had a very strong group that was ready to win a league. It was the perfect storm that came together for us.’
This season current table toppers Arsenal spent big when they splashed £42.5million on Mesut Ozil while Manchester City and Tottenham have also spent big.

And Lampard says the competition to win the league will be greater this season than before.
He added: ‘This year we know the competition out there, the money spent at other clubs, the quality already at other clubs. In the last two years we have finished fifth and third in the league which is not what we are used to… so everyone understands it is different now and think ‘let’s see what we can get.’
‘The days of a team going almost unbeaten through the league season aren’t going to happen anymore because the competition is too strong.
