Glazers see Ronaldo Man Utd return as 'key to global strategy'
United manager David Moyes declared only last week that he was refusing to rule out bringing Ronaldo back to the club.
And the Mail on Sunday says such a deal is not the stuff of fantasy.
It’s over a year now that what was passed off as a friendly 'for old times' sake' dinner at a top London casino between Ronaldo, his advisers and members of the United hierarchy took place.
Actually, it sowed the seeds of a potential mega-commercial deal to bring the player back to United, which the club’s owners the Glazers see as part of their global strategy.
Ronaldo's new deal with Real this season was more about 'vanity' than tying his future to the Spanish giants. He wanted to remain the club's highest paid following the arrival of Gareth Bale from Tottenham.
And while the prospect of a move being achieved in January is highly unlikely, a deal after next summer’s World Cup finals to sign Ronaldo IS on the agenda.
