Tevez targets historic double
Carlos Tevez is hoping to pull off a Serie A and Champions League double with Juventus this season.
The Bianconeri, who are bidding for
their third successive Scudetto, are three points behind Italian league
leaders Napoli, while Tuesday’s 2-2 draw with Real Madrid, coupled with
Galatasaray’s defeat in Copenhagen, has put their European destiny back
in their own hands.
Juve clearly have much work to do on both fronts but Tevez is in a bullish frame of mind after a positive start to the campaign.
“The first goal this season is called
the Scudetto,” the 29-year-old told reporters. “We want to win it, all
the more so because it would be historic: the third in a row for
Juventus; a record.
“It would be a very important achievement; an honour for the history of the club.
“Then, there’s the Champions League .”
Tevez has made a flying start to his
Serie A career following his summer switch from Manchester City and the
well-travelled forward freely admits that he feels right at home in
Turin.
“I’ve very happy to have moved to
Juventus,” he enthused. “It’s a top club, like all my previous teams.
Boca, Corinthians, the two Manchester sides – I don’t see any
differences.
“I’m happy, as Turin is a beautiful
city. And the fans shower me in affection. I’m feeling good. And it’s
always pleasing to hear the people singing my name.”
