Lucozade Sport Lagos City Marathon debuts Nov 23

Health conscious Lagosians and fitness freaks have been offered a unique platform to live  out their passion as GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria Limited, makers of Lucozade Sport isotonic drink and the Lagos State Ministry of Youth, Sport and Social Development team up to organize the first of a quarterly 10 kilometers Marathon Fun Run. Both parties recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the partnership which will see the first race hold on November 23.

 Dubbed the Lucozade Sport Lagos City 10km Fun Run, the event is targeted at staff of corporate organisations, businessmen and women, professional athletes and students of tertiary institutions. The organisers said that the start point will be Marina while the finish point will be at the Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island.

 GSK’s partnership with the Lagos for the fun run is being led by the company’s flagship sports engagement brand, Lucozade Sport as part of the company’s contribution to the Lagos Mega City project, the managers have said. The company’s Managing Director, Mr. Chidi Okoro led the team to the signing of the MoU while the Lagos State Commissioner for Sports, Mr. Enitan Oshodi signed for the state.

 The event has been endorsed by the Lagos State Athletics Association which will serve as the technical partners. Participation in the event is expected to have teams from leading corporate organizations and professional marathon runners. Forms are already available at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos State Athletics Association, Rowe Park and online at www.lagoscity10kmrun.com.

 It will be one of the major running events in Lagos State in the last two years and Lucozade Sport has been sponsoring several other events including the recent Lagos Cyclefest and the Lucozade Sport Open Air Workout which were all aimed at promoting healthy living in the citizens.
