Chase hots up for Man City striker
The race to clinch the loan signing of Manchester City striker John Guidetti in January is hotting up following the forward's long-awaited return to fitness.
Championship teams have already made their interest known, but they now face stiff competition from top flight sides in this country and overseas after Guidetti's two-goal salvo for Sweden Under-21s against Malta on Tuesday night.
He was the star of the show in a 5-0 victory in the European Under-21 Championships qualifier and Premier League scouts have pencilled in visits to Hyde FC to watch Guidetti in action for City's reserve team.
A source said: "There will be no shortage of takers for John in January if the club decides to let him go out on loan. There is a lot of interest because his potential is there for all to see."
After a terrible run of injuries and illness, Guidetti is finally fit and determined to recapture the form he demonstrated during a loan stint at Feyenoord, where he scored 20 goals in 23 appearances.
The Dutch side's technical director Martin van Geel expressed an interest in taking the Swede back to De Kuip in the summer, only for Guidetti to once again be sidelined.
