This is what makes Javier Hernandez indispensable to Manchester United

Javier Hernandez is more than just a goalscorer as a fantastic and insightful interview with ManUtd.com has shown.

The 25-year-old has begun to show signs of frustration at a lack of playing time at Old Trafford but it hasn’t managed to quell his kind hearted nature despite his role as a poacher of the six yard box.
“It’s the best feeling for a striker to score,” he said.
“I enjoy making a good pass or giving an assist.

You have to enjoy those things as much as scoring goals. I never play just to score; I’m not upset if I haven’t scored in a couple of games. I don’t think, ‘I have to score in the next one’, because I know football can go like that sometimes. As long as the team is winning, that’s the most important thing.

“It’s part of our job as strikers to score goals, but I train and play the game to enjoy every pass, shot, movement, assist and goal. I try to experience all the things that football can give you in the same way.”

This extract from the interview with Chicharito sums him up perfectly. Not even a goal drought will upset him.
For a striker of his calibre to state he doesn’t get phased by goal droughts and simply wants the team to win is exactly the attitude that has endeared him to United fans. First and foremost, the team winning is his prerogative by any means necessary.

He has every right to be frustrated given his extraordinarily good record but behind Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney, he knows that opportunities to play are smaller.

There have been plenty of comparisons between Chicharito and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the pair of baby faced assassins are and were such prolific scorers from the bench, but it is simply their attitude that is the what sets them apart.

At a team like United, you need strength in depth. Without it, you simply cannot compete and with it, you can become unstoppable. In Chicharito, United have a striker with one of best goals per minute ratio in the world – who wouldn’t want to keep that in their team?

For United’s sake, hopefully Moyes can offer him some more opportunities because he is an irreplaceable commodity, not just due to the goals he provides but the whole package as a professional that comes with it too.
