West Bromwich Albion have urged the Premier League to use video technology to avoid a repeat of the penalty controversy at Stamford Bridge last Saturday, according to a report.

Steve Clarke's team believe they have been on the wrong end of a number of dubious penalty decisions this season, culminating in the last-minute spot-kick which saw Ramires go down theatrically under the challenge of Steven Reid to deny the Baggies three points at Chelsea.

The Daily Mail reported that the Midlands club have contacted the League, and the referees' body, and will on Thursday ask for the issue to be debated at a Premier League shareholders' meeting.

West Brom's chairman, Jeremy Peace, believes the time is right to allow match officials to review their penalty awards and that national debate is needed on the subject
