Moyes hails 'leader' Rooney

Manchester United manager David Moyes has praised Wayne Rooney's leadership qualities after another superb display by the striker.
The former Everton forward gave another inspirational performance as United beat Fulham 3-1 at Craven Cottage on Saturday, with an assist, a goal and a commanding all-round display in west London.

The 28-year-old looked set to leave Old Trafford in the summer only for Moyes to persuade him to stay and the pair now appear to have patched up any differences they may have had in the past.

And the Red Devils chief has praised the England international hit-man and believes he is a player that the rest of the team now look up to.

"He is a big leader in the team and desperate for the team to be successful," he said. "Obviously, having a successful team helps him as well.

"He has got leadership qualities. He is a man when he is on the pitch."
