Chelsea plotting January move for Belgium hotshot

Chelsea are planning a January move for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, according to reports from A Bola.

The Belgian international has quickly established himself as one of the Premier League’s top centre-forwards since his arrival from Genk last year.

Jose Mourinho is thought to be particularly fond of the 22-year-old, and sees him as the ideal man to become the focal point of his attacking set-up.


‘The Special One’ is said to be on the lookout for a new goal getter once the transfer widow re-opens after failing to convinced by Fernando Torres, Demba Ba or Samuel Eto’o.

Benteke’s 19 league strikes for a Villa team that was embroiled in a relegation dogfight last season have convinced the Portuguese coach that he has the ability to become the Blues’ new hit-man.
It is thought that the Midlands club would be willing to accept around £25m for the burly attacker – a figure that the Londoners can match easily.

Benteke handed in a transfer request over the summer amid interest from Tottenham, but backtracked before the deadline passed to pen a new contract at Villa Park.

Chelsea have also been linked with Jackson Martinez of Porto, while Radamel Falcao is still on their radar, despite him having signed for Monaco in a £50m deal just a matter of months ago.
