Arsenal & Liverpool to battle for European hotshot
Arsenal and Liverpool are set to take on a host of European sides in the race for Olympiakos striker Konstantinos Motroglou, according to reports from talkSPORT.
The 25-year-old has been in razor-sharp form for both club and country this term, alerting a number of the continent’s elite teams.
He helped Greece book their spot at next year’s World Cup with an impressive double in the first leg of their play-off win over Romania, to add to a tally of 17 goals already this season for his club.
A number of scouts, including some from Arsenal and Liverpool, have been monitoring Mitroglou ahead of potential January offers.
The hit-man is thought to be available for around £7m, which has tempted Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers.
The Frenchman is keen to add a capable alternative to the in-form Olivier Giroud to his squad, while the Anfield chief is looking into doing the same for his star duo of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.
However, the pair will have to see off interest from Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Genoa and Benfica.
Mitroglou has just two years remaining on his contract, and is thought to be open to a big move.
Who needs Konstantinos Mitroglou more? Liverpool? Or Arsenal?
