Manchester United have third bid for Leighton Baines rejected by Everton
Manchester United have had a £15 million bid for Leighton Baines rejected by Everton according to The Guardian’s Jamie Jackson.
It is the third bid that David Moyes has
had rejected for the 28-year-old left but the first time that a bid has
been submitted to Everton that isn’t a dual offer including Marouane
Fellaini.
Everton have played hard ball with
Baines and Fellaini this summer with the Merseyside club reportedly
holding out for £25 million each for both players.
Baines has been one of the best left
backs in the Premier League for the past few seasons and was an integral
part to Everton’s impressive finishes under Moyes.
Many expected Baines to be one of Moyes’
main targets this summer but his refusal to offer upwards of £20
million for Baines and Bill Kenwright’s reluctance to sell him will
likely mean that the defender will not move to Old Trafford.
He has joined up with England at St
George’s Park for training ahead of the international break today which
may indicate that a move is unlikely to happen.
