Liverpool are ready to offer their Northern Irish manager Brendan Rodgers a new long-term contract, with Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City and even England interested in eventually approaching the well-spoken boss, reports the Mirror.

Rodgers’ contract expires at the end of next season, and the Liverpool hierarchy are desperate to tie him to the club for the foreseeable future.

Premier League giants Arsenal see Rodgers as a potential replacement for the ageing Arsene Wenger, when the veteran French boss eventually decides to move upstairs. With the Gunners flying high in the Premier League though, this might not be for a few years at least.

Tottenham are more than happy with Andre Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane, and gave the young Portuguese boss over £100m to spend in the transfer market this summer.

He would need to be replaced should Real Madrid eventually come calling, which is being mooted as a distinct possibility.

Manchester City have respected the way Rodgers has dealt with the Luis Suarez saga, and could turn to a youthful British manager should Manuel Pellegrini fail to reach the required heights this season.

Rodgers endured a poor first season in charge, finishing seventh in the table, but won admirers with the brand of football his side played. This term, Rodgers hasn’t won for three matches on the spin following his August Manager of the Month award, and will be eager to pick up the three points away to struggling Sunderland on Sunday evening.
