The best Premier League XI so far in 2013/14 featuring Arsenal and Tottenham stars
The 2013/14 Premier League season looks as it could be as open as any campaign seen in England for a long time, with several stars greatly impressing so far this term.
GK – Simon Mignolet: The Liverpool goalkeeper has been in fine form all season after a £9m move from Sunderland and even when the defence has let the Belgian down, the stopper has been solid.
RB – Pablo Zabaleta: It was a tough call between the Manchester City defender and Seamus Coleman, but in the end the Argentine edges it after another great showing so far this term.
LB – Leighton Baines: The left-back seems to be able to do no wrong of late and it is only a matter of time until Baines ousts Ashley Cole from the England national team on a permanent basis as well.
CB – Dejan Lovren: The Croatian is the main reason Southampton have changed from sloppy defenders to a side that now rarely concedes – a superb summer purchase.
CB – Jan Vertonghen: Tottenham Hotspur’s best defender is perhaps also one of the best in the league and is well on the way to back-to-back appearances in the PFA Team of the Year.
DM – Yaya Toure: It’s been another great season for the 30-year-old who is fast becoming arguably the best box-to-box midfielder in Europe.
CM – Aaron Ramsey: It’s almost hard to believe the Welshman makes it into this side considering the inconsistency shown last campaign, but the 22-year-old has been in superb form for Arsenal.
CM – Paulinho: Another new signing on the list and another contender for being awarded the prize for being the best box-to-box midfielder in Europe with some great displays from the Brazilian.
AM – Oscar: The second Brazil international on the list and the only one of Chelsea’s plethora of attacking midfielders that seems to be able to find any consistency.
AM – Ross Barkley: New Everton manager Roberto Martinez has pledged the Spaniard’s faith in the teenager and is reaping the rewards as Barkley continues to impress.
ST – Olivier Giroud: The Frenchman is another Gunners star who seems to have transformed over the summer and just pips Daniel Sturridge to the lone striker spot in this team.
