Is it crisis time if Liverpool lose at Sunderland?

Liverpool go into tomorrow’s match against Sunderland without a win in their last three matches.

Brendan Rodgers will be hoping for a positive reaction from his team against a bottom placed Sunderland side without a manager.

He’ll be very confident of the three points because despite Liverpool’s current run, they are still a very good team with a high quality squad of players.

It’s Sunderland’s league position which creates any idea of a ‘crisis’ developing if Liverpool lose or even just manage a point at the Stadium of Light but there will still be plenty of reason for optimism even if the Reds have a bad result tomorrow.

It’s still very early days in the season, certainly far too early to judge a crisis starting to developing at one of the top sides.

Every big team is challenged and the job for Liverpool is simply to continue working hard to try and turn around the results and push back up the table to compete with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

A message to Ian Ayre, a few things to help Liverpool's 'brand'

It’s not too long ago that the side was being praised for a perfect start to the season and being considered genuine title contenders.

Liverpool also have several key players carrying injuries and niggles at the moment, who will only strengthen things as they gradually return to the first team,

Daniel Agger, Joe Allen, Glen Johnson and Philippe Coutinho are all due to return to first team action by the end of next month and in the cases of Agger and Allen, it currently seems to be a case of building up their match fitness.

Liverpool have also only just welcomed back Luis Suarez, arguably their best attack player who is only going to increase in confidence and get better, the more games he accumulates.
He looked sharp and very determined during the League Cup defeat at Manchester United, which eradicated any fears over his fitness and what sort of shape he’d be in on his return.

A poor result at Sunderland won’t create a crisis within the squad, it will simply have the effect of making Rodgers work harder to try and come up with a plan B and an alternative system.

Sides have started to work out how to play against Liverpool and while the boss will want to stick with a method he knows, a bad result in the North East could have a beneficial effect by forcing Liverpool to come up with a plan B and plan C which the side doesn’t currently have.

Of course Liverpool will be better off for three points but it’s not the end of the world if Sunderland’s stars play out of their skin and stop that from happening.
