The five best playmakers in the Premier League including Arsenal and Chelsea stars
In modern football the No.10 plays such a prominent role and the Premier League boasts some of the finest playmakers in the world.
Santi Cazorla – Arsenal
The Spaniard has been injured for much of this season and is yet to play a match with club record signing Mesut Ozil – a mouthwatering prospect for Gunners fans.
However, in the 38 matches Cazorla featured in last term the attacking midfielder showed exactly why Arsene Wenger bought the Spain international in, with 14 assists and 12 goals.
Christian Eriksen – Tottenham Hotspur
Eriksen is a new face to the English top tier, but has already settled into life in north London with some superb performances for Spurs.
The 21-year-old has fitted in perfectly to the role that used to be occupied by Gareth Bale and Tottenham could well have a supreme talent on their hands.
Juan Mata – Chelsea
The fact that manager Jose Mourinho doesn’t seem to rate the 25-year-old doesn’t mean that Mata has lost the talent that saw the Spaniard nominated as the PFA Player of the Year last season.
The midfielder’s input against Spurs at the weekend was there for all to see and with Eden Hazard and Willian out of form, maybe Mourinho will start giving the Spain international a chance soon.
Mesut Ozil – Arsenal
The second new signing on this list and also the second Arsenal player after Cazorla, but there is no way the £42.4m man could be left out.
Three assists in three matches shows what a good start Ozil has had to life at the Emirates Stadium and the German could well be the difference in mounting a serious title challenge this year.
David Silva – Manchester City
Despite showing flashes of brilliance, Silva’s real talent is in the Spaniard’s consistency and the City man is creative without stealing the scene all the time.
It is a merit of Spain’s superiority on the international stage that the attacking midfielder is the third star from the country to make it onto this list.
