Liverpool to stay focused
Sturridge: Staying humble
The Reds demolished Sunderland 1-3 at the Stadium of Light on Sunday, and Sturridge was the man who opened the scoring, albeit somewhat controversially.
The former Manchester City player appeared to control the ball with his arm before it went in the back of the net but this was not picked up by the officials.
"The ball's just gone in off my arm but I wouldn't do that on purpose," he told the Daily Mail. "Sometimes these things happen."
The victory which was the Merseyside club's fourth win in six league games, and the 24-year-old was particularly complimentary of Luis Suarez who returned from a ten game suspension last week and scored a brace on Sunday.
"It's great to have him [Suarez] back in, he gives us options and he's one of the best forwards in the league," the striker explained. "We form a good partnership."
The England international went on to praise the squad that he is a part of, saying: "We've got some great players in this team and I'm happy to be playing with them."
But the Champions League-winner seems to be remaining level headed at this early stage of the season.
"It's early days, take every day as it comes. Don't worry about the future, worry about the here and now," he said.
