Chelsea defender reveals dream to play alongside Ronaldo at Real Madrid
Chelsea right-back Wallace has revealed it is his dream to play in La Liga in the future.
The teenage right-back signed from Brazilian club Fluminense in January, but remained there on loan for the rest of the season.
Having featured for the Blues during their pre-season tour, the 19-year-old then moved on loan to Inter Milan this season – where he has so far made two substitute appearances.
But in an interview with Globoesporte, the attacking full-back revealed he has a dream. You know the one – it is the headline inducing sound-bite of countless footballing starlets.
Wallace wants to play for Real Madrid.
But Chelsea fans should not get too upset, because Wallace has no intention of heading to the Bernabeu just yet.
Manchester clubs struggle as balance of power shifts back to London
Speaking of his current situation in Italy, Wallace said, “I am at a big club. I want to stay here or return to Chelsea. I like Chelsea very much. In the future, I have the dream of playing in Spain, at Real Madrid.
“Since I was a kid my dream is Real Madrid, and I would like to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. But I don’t intend to go to Real Madrid now. I am too young, and will still have many years in Europe.”
Should Wallace secure a work permit for next season, he could prove to be one of Chelsea’s most exciting young players. But as with many clubs, the Blues may ultimately find the lure of La Liga prevents a long-term stay at Stamford Bridge.
For now Wallace seems happy to develop. And in truth forcing his way into an Inter team is no easier than getting game time for the Blues or the Spanish giants.
He knows he needs to grow, to learn and to develop. But given his dream, you sense he will do just that, to ensure that dream comes true.
