Marouane Fellaini given extra leave by Belgian FA to complete Manchester United move
Marouane Fellaini has been given extra
time before joining up with the Belgium national team today in order to
sort out his immediate future with a protracted move to Manchester
United looking likely.
The 25-year-old has been the subject of
two rejected bids from David Moyes and it is expected that the Scot will
go back to Everton with a third and final offer today.
There is no indication as to whether
Moyes’ third bid will be for Fellaini on his own or whether it will be
another dual bid including Leighton Baines.
Everton have already started
negotiations to bring in midfielders should Fellaini leave the club in
Wigan’s James McCarthy and Manchester City’s Gareth Barry.
Given that Fellaini had a release clause
of £23 million that expired earlier this summer and the fact that there
are less than seven hours left in the transfer window, Moyes will
likely have to pay a premium for the Belgian midfielder.
Moyes’ reluctance to pay Fellaini’s
release clause indicates that he may not have been a target of his for
the whole summer but Moyes is expected to make one final attempt to
bring him to Old Trafford before the window closes at 11pm.
