Kroos: Low can lead Germany to major titles

The Bayern Munich attacker believes the 53-year-old manager is the right man to take the Mannschaft forward and would love the coach to extend his current contract

Toni Kroos believes Germany coach Joachim Low is the man to lead the national side to success at next year's World Cup.

The mannschaft continued their surge towards qualification for Brazil 2014 with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Austria in Group C, with Kroos getting on the scoresheet - a goal which he dedicated to his new-born son Leon.

Negotiations with Germany's Football Association (DFB) have began over extending Low's existing contract to 2016, and the Bayern Munich playmaker says it would be great for Germany if they could conclude a deal.

"I would absolutely welcome his extension. I think that he has made something very, very good from our national team in recent years," he told Bild am Sonntag.

"Under him, we have to look at the huge step we've made in the quality of our football and, I think he can be the coach who leads us to major titles, on which we all wait and work towards."

Kroos' versatility has enabled him to play a variety of different positions, featuring as a No.10 for Bayern while sitting deeper for Low's side.

But the 23-year-old, while he never caught the eye of Low to begin with, insists he is happy to play anywhere.

"Before Euro 2012 I thought I would get a first team opportunity, but Joachim Low had a different view on that," he added.

"Now, right before the World Cup 2014, I want to show him my qualities doing good with the club, no matter on what position. I am doing great the past two years."

Germany can secure qualification for next year's tournament if they beat Faroe Islands on Tuesday and Sweden fail to beat Kazakhstan.
