United have first refusal on Gomes after he spent time on trial at Carrington and were expected to bring him to Old Trafford and yesterday, his agent Alexis Malavolta said that Gomes’ new club will be unveiled within the next few days leading to hope that he would soon be a United player.
However, The Peoples Person can reveal that Gomes will not become a United player as he will be moving domestically to a club in Brazil.
It seems a real shame to miss out on a youngster who was not only supremely talented but had a burning desire to play for United. His constant interaction with United fans on Twitter was the biggest indication of that desire.
On top of that, Gomes’ goalscoring record is nothing short of phenomenal. He became the only youngster in history to collect the Golden Boot on three consecutive years at youth level at Under-15 in 2011 with 30 goals and Under-17 in 2012 and 2013 with 27 and 28 goals respectively, a total of 85 goals in three years.
Despite that, it looks like United have chosen not to bring him to the club. At this stage, the reasons behind that decision are unknown but United will likely keep tabs on Gomes’ progress in Brazil to see how he develops over the next couple of years.
