Baines bends it like Beckham... but which other English stars make the list of the the top set-piece specialists?

Leighton Baines' two masterful free-kicks on Saturday against West Ham highlighted his ability as a set-piece specialist of the highest calibre.

The Everton full-back may be yet to earn parity with David Beckham – if only for the fact he has yet to score one for the national team of the same importance as Beckham's crucial equaliser against Greece in 2001 – but he is rightly gaining overdue recognition for his quality.

Beckham is, of course, widely considered England's finest free-kick taker but in Paul Gascoigne, Alan Shearer and Glenn Hoddle there are several more and following on from Baines' efforts, Sportsmail couldn't resist compiling a list of our best.

David Beckham
The England legend is so well known for his ability with a dead ball that there was even a film made in his name, Bend it Like Beckham.
A player with supreme talent, the former Manchester United No 7 would spend hours honing his skills to perfect his technique.

Sir Alex Ferguson once said: '[Beckham] practiced with a discipline to achieve an accuracy that other players wouldn't care about.'

His most important set-piece came on England duty against Greece in 2001 when his late kick secured World Cup qualification for Sven Goran Eriksson's side.
