World Cup: Super Eagles coaches plan for second leg against Ethiopia

Stephen Keshi
The Super Eagles head coach, Stephen Keshi, has said the Super Eagles are taking their second-leg match with Ethiopia on November 16 in Calabar seriously.

“We will play as if the first leg has not taken place,” said Keshi, while speaking with newsmen at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Monday on arrival from Addis Ababa.

The Super Eagles, in Addis Ababa on Sunday, defeated the Walya Antelopes of Ethiopia 2-1 in the first leg of the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifier.

Keshi said the home-based Super Eagles are expected to open the team’s camp at the end of the month and that the foreign-based players will join later.

He said the Ethiopians gave the Eagles a tough time but that the experience of the Eagles, the African champions, gave them the day.

Keshi’s assistant, Daniel Amokachi, told NAN that the technical crew had drawn-up a plan for the return leg.

According to Amokachi, the Eagles stand a better chance of winning the return, considering the absence of challenge posed by the altitude of Addis Ababa, which the team experienced in Ethiopia.
