The billionaire will not be rushed into making a snap decision over the future of his manager despite the Cottagers languishing just outside the Premier League's bottom three

Fulham owner Shahid Khan insists that he will not "act on impulse" and sack manager Martin Jol despite a laboured start to the season.

The Cottagers have scraped just two wins from their opening seven games this term, sinking to 17th in the Premier League table, and speculation has mounted that the Dutchman will soon be relieved of his duties, with supporters becoming increasingly agitated.

Khan, who bought the west London club from Mohamed Al Fayed for £150 million in the summer, has broken his silence to reaffirm his support for the beleagured Jol.



"Martin is a very experienced coach. He's a good guy. We've got off to a start nobody's happy with, whether you're a fan or you're Martin," he asserted to the Daily Mail.

"We want to do better but I'm not the kind of person who's going to act on impulse. You go through life and learn valuable lessons.

"I want Fulham to be very successful. You can't go out of the frying pan and into the fire. That's the most important thing."

Khan has attended just one Fulham match this season - the 3-1 home defeat to Arsenal - but has watched the rest on television and hinted that Jol would be given time to turn around his side's fortunes.

"Relegation is a horrible thought but you've got to keep in mind it's only seven games. You can't jump to conclusions," he cautioned.

"You look at the table from Sunderland at the bottom to the point where the congestion that starts at seven points and it is two games, six points - and there are 31 games to play. You can't feel too good and you can't feel too bad."
