REVEALED: What was said in Ancelotti's showdown meeting with Real Madrid squad
After Saturday's dismal derby defeat to Atletico Madrid, Ancelotti openly questioned the "attitude" of his players and yesterday thrashed out his differences with the squad in a 50-minute summit, says Punto Pelota.
Ancelotti demanded better from his men, warning that "I'm not going anywhere".
The players insisted they were behind their Italian coach, accepting that "we won't win anything if we keep playing like this". Essentially, the players fell on their sword, accepting responsibility for their poor form so far this season.
Ancelotti singled out Pepe and Karim Benzema for criticism, angry after their on field bust-up during the derby defeat: "Keep this stuff inside the locker room. It looks bad for the team."
In the end, Ancelotti came away satisfied his message had cut through and was privately delighted to see none of the players turn on eachother nor seek excuses.
