Petr Cech happy to see Chelsea develop ‘ruthless’ streak
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is pleased to see the Blues develop a "ruthless" streak after a 4-0 win at Steaua Bucharest
Petr Cech believes Chelsea are developing a “ruthless” streak after their 4-0 win at Steaua Bucharest on Tuesday night.
The Blues have made a sluggish start to the Premier League season as Demba Ba, Samuel Eto’o and Fernando Torres have struggled to fire for the west London side. But Cech, who joined from Rennes in 2004, reckons Chelsea are getting back to their efficient best after an emphatic Champions League win in Romania.
“The main difference against Steaua was that we converted our chances. Then you can control the game and play with freedom,” said Cech.
“Every counter-attack we could feel we had a chance to score. It was a mature performance.
“You can go out and have a bad game, as we did in the first one at home (to Basel). But the main thing is the reaction.
“We knew that home result was a blow, but we are back in business now.
“Can I see signs of the old Chelsea returning? I wouldn’t want to compare because it’s two different teams. But this was a very good performance, ruthless in front of goal.”
