Lampard urges Chelsea teammates to have faith in Mourinho

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has called on his teammates to have faith in manager Jose Mourinho despite the Portuguese’s stuttering start upon his return to Stamford Bridge, the Daily Mail has reported.

Lampard, speaking at the same press conference that saw Mourinho walk out early after questions over the absence of Kevin De Bruyne from the squad to play Steaua Bucharest, acknowledged that with a relatively

young squad that has not worked under Mourinho before, the demands of the manager may take time to become second nature. But, the England international added, the club will benefit from Mourinho’s approach in time and with patience.

It can take two to three months for players to follow a new manager’s ideas,” Lampard said, adding: “If you look at us in the league, we’re in a good position. We have to win games in the Champions League having lost one, but that can happen.

I really believe in the squad we have, the young players we have, and we have to take on board the new manager’s ideas,” the veteran continued. “He’s a winner. It might be a matter of time in certain areas, but we believe we can do big things. But it’s no good talking about it. We need to do it.
