Real Madrid’s Coentrao cried after missing out on Manchester United move
Real Madrid fullback Fabio Coentrao was so desperate to join Manchester United on loan, he wept tears on deadline day evening after the deal fell through, claims Portuguese newspaper Record.
Many news publications confirmed that a deal was actually finalised, but in fact, the relevant paperwork was not completed in time, and a loan to the Premier League champions collapsed.
The 25-year-old is equally adept at left-back or left-wing, and can also perform in a defensive midfield role.
The versatile Portuguese player would have added a great option for Manchester United boss David Moyes, who in turn, only managed to sign Everton Marouane Fellaini on deadline day despite targeting multiple acquisitions.
United do already have Patrice Evra in the position, who is still regarded as one of the best left-backs in the league. Coentrao though would have added another left-footed option, who could play further forward than the veteran French defender.
