Wayne Rooney has made a move to try and
appease Manchester United fans by changing his Facebook profile and
cover photos to him in a United shirt.
The 27-year-old tried to orchestrate a
move away from Old Trafford during the summer after claiming he was
angry and confused at his treatment by the club but United’s stance that
he was not for sale did not budge as Chelsea found out with their
rejected bids.
Now that Rooney knows he is staying at
United, he has begun to try to fix the bridges he has twice burned with
his lack of loyalty towards the club but fans will continue to stand by
him so long as he is a United player. That won’t change.
Changing his Facebook pictures will
certainly do him no harm in trying to repair his relationship with the
fans but he should concentrate on doing it on the pitch.
An energetic performance against Chelsea
was how he used to play and if he can bring those sorts of performances
back this season, he has every chance of getting back to the Rooney
that all United fans grew to love.
