Manchester United were offered Willian and Mesut Ozil before Chelsea and Arsenal swooped

MANCHESTER UNITED had the chance to sign Mesut Ozil AND Willian - but turned down the pair of them.

David Moyes was offered Ozil for "substantially less" than the £42.4m fee Arsenal paid this week.

Real Madrid were trying to raise the cash to sign Gareth Bale and although United liked Ozil, they were not interested in making a move.

They have faith in Wayne Rooney, despite his desire to leave Old Trafford, and also rate Shinji Kagawa as a more-than capable back-up.
