Crystal Palace striker Marouane Chamakh working TOO hard

FLOP striker Marouane Chamakh has been told he needs to DROP his work rate to be a success at Crystal Palace.

The Moroccan has found the net just once for the rock-bottom Eagles since a summer switch from Arsenal.

But caretaker boss Keith Millen reckons he knows what has been the problem for Chamakh, 29, who has drawn blanks in his last eight games.
He is convinced Chamakh is actually helping his team-mates too much and has instructed him to be more selfish - starting with today's visit of Everton.

Millen said: "When you look at his stats he works harder than anyone - probably too hard sometimes.
"Sometimes he does running for the team that he doesn't need to, so when he does actually get the ball he's tired. So I have been trying to say to him, 'Cut down the running and get in more dangerous areas'.

"I'm trying to get him to think about scoring goals more and be a bit more selfish."
Millen has also told Chamakh to forget he used to play for Arsene Wenger.

He added: "I'm sure it has been a bit of a culture shock for him, coming here from Arsenal.
"He was out of favour at Arsenal at the end and he feels this has given him a new lease of life.
"When you think where he's come from, to a team that's struggling, you couldn't ask for any more."
Palace will kick off six points adrift of safety with just one win in their first 10 Premier League games.

But Millen, who expects to be replaced as boss after the Toffees clash, has called on his players to go to war to save their season.
He said: "I'd like to think they are all warriors. You need a team of them but there's different ways of showing it.

"I want aggression in our game and that could be someone going in with a tough tackle or being aggressive in their running.
"You can be aggressive attacking a cross to score a goal.
"I'm not asking them to go smashing into tackles but I want an aggression in their game because then the fans will stick with them.
"That will create a good atmosphere at Selhurst Park and Everton will know they are in a game.
