Manchester City’s Aguero to swap clubs with Benzema?
Real Madrid have reportedly renewed their interest in the player
Manchester City are bracing themselves for a January approach from Real Madrid for their Argentine striker Sergio Aguero.According to reports from the Guardian, Los Blancos are preparing to renew their interest in the former Atletico Madrid man, as they look to bolster their attacking options.
The deal could see current Real no.9 Karim Benzema move in the opposite direction, with the Frenchman believed to be open to the idea of a transfer away from the Bernabeu.
Any move for Aguero could ultimately end up as part of a much larger swap deal between the two Champions League chasing clubs, with City’s David Silva and Real’s Sami Khedira both rumoured to be part of a proposed swap deal.
Los Galacticos are keen to add to their current crop of strikers following the departure of Gonzalo Higuain to Napoli in the close season, with the club currently relying on a combination of Benzema and youngster Alvaro Morata.
The departure of Aguero from the Etihad still looks someway off though, with the forward proving an integral part of the City squad since his £35 million move to Manchester back in July 2011.
And speaking to the Observer in the wake of the Citizen’s crucial 3-1 win over Everton, the 25-year-old was keen to insist that he was enjoying life at the club.
"I'm happy here, my family's here when they come to England, all I can do is give everything I have for the club and concentrate on achieving for the club,” he told the news provider.
Time will tell as to whether the forward is willing to turn down the official overtures of Madrid though.
