Is Ibrahimovic on the move to the Premier League?

According to reports in the French capital, rumours that Paris Saint-Germain have made an offer for Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata could see striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic reunite with his former boss Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

Reports have emerged in both L’Equipe and Marca that the Blues have received contact from PSG over the 26-year-old Spanish midfielder and subsequently claims that the French champions have offered the Europa League winners the nomadic Swedish striker in return for Mata.

Ibrahimovic is the most expensive player in the world in terms of his combined transfer value between the likes of Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan and PSG.

The arrival of £55 million Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani has seen Ibrahimovic linked with a departure from the Parc des Princes this summer and a link-up with former boss at Inter Milan Jose Mourinho could be enough to lure him to Stamford Bridge.

The arrival of another former Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto’o to Chelsea would make another arrival in that department unlikely. However, reports today that Arsenal are negotiating with the Blues over a potential loan move for striker Demba Ba could leave the door open for a shock late move for Zlatan.

Juan Mata has featured on the bench for the majority of the season so far with rumours over a ‘rift’ between him and the Portuguese boss at the Bridge fuelling speculation he could move on to find regular access to first-team football ahead of next year’s World Cup.

Mata was not included in Spain’s squad ahead of crucial World Cup qualifiers this week, incidentally, his omission was not the only one – Spain and Chelsea striker Fernando Torres was also not involved, further intensifying speculation that the former Liverpool striker could also be on the move.

It is yet unclear as to whether Mata is in fact the subject of interest in Paris, after being linked with Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United in recent days. Mourinho insisted Mata is part of his plans for Chelsea this summer but his exclusion for three out of Chelsea’s four games this term would suggest otherwise.

Meanwhile, Ibrahimovic has been talking up his relationship with Mourinho, comparing the ‘special one’ to his Bayern Munich equivalent Pep Guardiola. He couldn't... could he?
