Robin van Persie will return to the starting line-up for Manchester United’s Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday night.
The Dutch striker was a substitute in the weekend fixture against West Bromwich Albion and missed the Manchester derby the previous week after sustaining a groin problem.


Van Persie will partner Danny Welbeck up front while Tom Clevereley also returns to the line-up in midfield.
Midfielder Ryan Giggs will start on the bench but should he enter the match tonight he will overtake former Real Madrid striker Raul’s record of 144 appearances in the Champions League. The United stalwart made his debut as a fresh-faced winger over 20 years ago against Kispest Honved.
