Dutchman admits Mourinho wouldn’t let Chelsea star leave

Ajax director Marc Overmars has revealed that Chelsea blocked a move for Marco van Ginkel

The 20-year-old joined the blues for a fee of around £8m in July, which saw a wave of midfielders join.
Overmars revealed he was an admirer of the Dutchman, but Chelsea wouldn’t countenance a deal.

“He made no mistake, because he really wanted to come to Ajax, but Chelsea did not let him,” Overmars told Dutch paper De Telegraaf.

“Would it have been better for his development to go to Ajax? Yes, 1000 per cent.

“We tried to get him on loan in this transfer window but unfortunately Chelsea would not let him go.” (Daily Express)
